BALTIMORE, MD—The Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday announced the 2022 regular season schedule, which will open in Baltimore on Thursday, March 31, against the Toronto Blue Jays at Oriole Park. The O’s will host Toronto for a three-game series before embarking on their first road trip of the 2022 campaign on April 4, beginning at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.
For just the second time in Oriole Park history, the Orioles will host 14 weekend series throughout the season (also 2019), including five weekends total against the New York Yankees (April 15-17 and July 22-24) and the Boston Red Sox (April 29-May 1, August 19-21, and September 9-11).
The 2022 home schedule features five games played on holidays, including Easter Sunday (April 17 vs. New York Yankees), Mother’s Day (May 8 vs. Kansas City), Father’s Day/Juneteenth (June 19 vs. Tampa Bay), Independence Day (July 4 vs. Texas Rangers), and Labor Day (September 5 vs. Toronto Blue Jays). The 2022 season marks the first time the Orioles will host 4th of July festivities since 2008.
The Orioles will face American League East divisional opponents 19 times apiece throughout the season, including three series against each club at Oriole Park. The Red Sox will play nine games in Baltimore (April 29-May 1, August 19-21, and September 9-11), as will the Blue Jays (March 31-April 3, August 8-10, September 5-7). The Yankees (April 15-17, May 16-19, and July 22-24) and Rays (May 20-22, June 17-19, and July 25-28) will each play 10 games at Camden Yards.
In Interleague play, the Orioles will face the National League Central for the first time since 2017. The Orioles will travel to the St. Louis Cardinals on May 10-12, marking the club’s first-ever appearance at Busch Stadium III and the team’s first series in St. Louis since 2003. Baltimore’s Interleague slate also features trips to Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park (July 29-31) and Chicago’s Wrigley Field (July 12-13), the O’s first time playing in the North Side since 2014. The Orioles will host the Milwaukee Brewers on April 11-13, their first visit to Camden Yards since 2003, and will welcome the Chicago Cubs (June 7-8) and Pittsburgh Pirates (August 5-7). In addition, the annual Battle of the Beltways against the Washington Nationals will take place with two home games on July 21-22 and two games in D.C. on September 13-14.
The Orioles will play their fewest home games during the month of April (10). May and September will mark the busiest months at Oriole Park, with 16 home games each. Baltimore will host 12 games in June and August, and 14 games in July. The O’s will finish the 2022 regular season on the road with a six-game road trip, ending at Yankee Stadium from September 30-October 2.
