Police identify children found deceased during Essex traffic stop

ESSEX, MD—Police have identified the two children who were found deceased during a Thursday night traffic stop in Essex.



The two children have been identified as 7-year-old Joshlyn Johnson and 5-year-old Larry O’Neil.

At just after 11 p.m. on July 28, officers conducted a traffic stop on Eastern Boulevard near Wagners Lane (21221). During the stop, officers discovered the bodies of two deceased children.

The deceased minors were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. Baltimore County detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“Tonight, the entire Baltimore County Police Department grieves with the community over the unspeakable deaths of two innocent children,” said Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt on Friday night. “The investigation into this atrocious crime will not stop until those responsible are brought to justice.”
