NOTTINGHAM, MD—It will finally begin to feel like summer in the Baltimore area this weekend. The National Weather Service says to expect a big warm up in the coming days.
High temperatures will be in the mid-80s on Wednesday and, by the weekend, temperatures will be approaching 90 degrees.
The warm temps are expected to continue into next week.
Scientists say the warm up could finally trigger the mass emergence of Brood X cicadas in the Mid-Atlantic. Governor Larry Hogan has proclaimed May & June 2021 to be Maryland Magicicada Months.
One the periodical cicadas begin to sing, their deafening chorus should linger into late June.
