WEEKLY ZIP CODE REPORT: Over 4.22 million Marylanders vaccinated, COVID-19 hospitalizations fall again

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health and Governor Larry Hogan on Friday reported that the state has now administered more than 4.22 million COVID-19 vaccines.

Nearly 57% of Marylanders adults have been vaccinated.

Overall Metrics

As of Friday, April 23, 2021, there have been 441,155 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 9,471,114 tests, including more than 39,000 tests over the past 24 hours.

The statewide positivity rate stands at 5.10%, a decrease from last Friday’s 5.67%.

A total of 8,447 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 1,188 are currently hospitalized – a decrease of 44 hospitalizations since last Friday.  A total of 289 ICU beds are currently in use, a decrease of 7 beds since last Friday.

More than 70% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (5,997/8,447).

Baltimore County has confirmed 62,136 cases and 1,414 deaths with COVID-19 (note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).
