NOTTINGHAM, MD—Northeastern Baltimore County will be getting a new elementary school next year to address overcrowding in one of the county’s fastest-growing areas.
Construction of the 750-seat school was approved in March by the Board of Education of Baltimore County. Board members voted for construction to begin later this spring and early summer on the planned state-of-the-art elementary school.
Plans call for a nearly 102,000-square-foot school to be built on land along Gum Spring Road and the intersection of Rossville Boulevard and Ridge Road near The Community College of Baltimore County – Essex (which is actually located in Rosedale).
The school is scheduled to open in September 2022.
“As Baltimore County continues to grow, Baltimore County Public Schools continues to grow as well to better serve the next generation of leaders and citizens,” said Makeda Scott, chair of the Board of Education of Baltimore County. “The Board is excited and proud to support the construction of this new learning and community center, and we are appreciative to our county and state partners for the funding necessary to make this important project a reality.”
