NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health and Governor Larry Hogan on Friday reported that the state set a new one-day record of more than 80,000 COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday. Maryland providers have now administered a total of 3.27 million doses.
Approximately 78.5% of Marylanders over the age of 65 have received a vaccine.

Overall Metrics
As of Friday, April 9, 2021, there have been 423,663 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 9,046,422 tests, including more than 44,000 tests over the past 24 hours.
The statewide positivity rate stands at 5.59%, a slight decrease from last Friday’s 5.60%.
A total of 8,238 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 1,249 are currently hospitalized – an increase of 204 hospitalizations since last Friday. A total of 286 ICU beds are currently in use, an increase of 35 beds since last Friday.
More than 70% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (5,891/8,238).

There have now been 3,221,869 negative COVID-19 test results in Maryland and 9,989 patients have been released from isolation.
Baltimore County has confirmed 58,366 cases and 1,366 deaths with COVID-19 (note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).

“For the very first time, Maryland is reporting more than 80,000 vaccinations in a single day,” said Governor Hogan on Friday. “This brings our total number of doses administered to 3.27 million, and our daily average to 62,587. 78.5% of Marylanders 65+ have received a vaccine.”
