Enhanced fire weather risk in Baltimore area persists into Monday

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Forecasters with the National Weather Service say the dry conditions that prompted a Red Flag Warning in the Baltimore area on Sunday will persist into Monday.

Dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty northwesterly winds will produce favorable conditions for wildfire spread through Monday afternoon across portions of northern, central and southern Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches.

Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.
