NOTTINGHAM, MD— The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Baltimore area on Sunday.

The warning will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. EDT. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Relative humidity will be low at 15 to 25 percent.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop today. All outdoor burning is discouraged, as fires could rapidly spread and become uncontrollable.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Be careful of heat and sparks while operating any equipment, and avoid smoking in wildland areas.
