BCPS to celebrate 2nd annual College Day on Thursday, March 18

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD—Baltimore County Public Schools will celebrate its second annual College Day on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

On College Day, all teachers, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear gear or colors to celebrate the colleges and universities they attended. Students are urged to wear gear or colors to recognize their college of choice.

All College Day participants are asked to share photos on social media using hashtag #BCPScollegeday.

“As we prepare every young person for a rewarding career, we know that most jobs now require at least some postsecondary education,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams. “College Day is just one way to show each student that they, too, are college material.”

BCPS recognizes that not all its graduates will go to college, but the school system, according to Dr. Williams, is committed to preparing all students to be college- and career-ready.

The Center on Education and the Workforce at Georgetown University concluded that full-time workers with bachelor’s degrees generally earn 84 percent more during their lifetime than those with high school diplomas.
