WEEKLY ZIP CODE REPORT: Maryland COVID-19 positivity rate, hospitalizations continue to drop

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health on Friday reported that the statewide COVID-19 positivity rate and total hospitalizations fell once again over the past week.

Overall Metrics

As of Friday, February 19, 2021, there have been 374,974 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 7,597,220 tests, including more than 42,000 tests over the past 24 hours.

The statewide positivity rate stands at 4.12%, down from last Friday’s 4.87%.

A total of 7,495 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 1,016 individuals are currently hospitalized – a decrease of 209 hospitalizations since last Friday.  A total of 272 ICU beds are currently in use, a decrease of 54 beds since last Friday. Maryland’s positivity rate and hospitalizations have continued to fall steadily since late January.

More than 72% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (5,420/7,495).

Baltimore County has confirmed 49,897 cases and 1,209 deaths with COVID-19 (note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).
