Middle River house fire leaves 1 dead

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Authorities are investigating after a Wednesday house fire in Middle River left one person dead.

The fire was reported at around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the 2100-block of Cockspur Road (21220).



Crews found heavy fire from the second floor windows in the front and back of the house.

One male occupant was able to escape through a second-story bedroom window.  He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters found the victim, who has not yet been identified due to the extent of the injuries, in a different second-floor bedroom.

Twenty-six pieces of equipment responded to this fire.

The cause has not yet been determined.
