TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County Fire Chief Joanne R. Rund on Tuesday night recognized the winners of the 2020 BCPS Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest.
The 24 winners and “honorable mention” participants are third-grade students from Baltimore County Public Schools.
The poster contest is held each fall and asks elementary students to illustrate the year’s National Fire Prevention Week theme. The 2020 theme, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” focused on cooking fires, the #1 cause of home fires. BCoFD members judged the posters based on quality and how well they illustrated the theme.
The top five winners received cash prizes donated by the Baltimore County Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 1311; and the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association.
