Rosedale stabbing victim dies

ROSEDALE, MD—The man who was stabbed in Rosedale last weekend has died, police confirmed on Friday,

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Cody Mulligan, who sustained life-threatening wounds after being stabbed outside of his home on Sumter Avenue on Saturday afternoon.



Authorities have determined that Mulligan was exiting his home at the same time the suspect, identified as James John Marchsteiner III, was walking down the sidewalk.

Unprovoked, Marchsteiner ran toward Mulligan and stabbed him multiple times in the upper body.

Mulligan died on Thursday afternoon at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Marchsteiner was arrested at the scene and remains held on no bail status, previously charged with attempted first degree murder, and first and second degree assault.

Investigators will consult with the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office on seeking the additional charge of first degree murder.
