CARNEY, MD—A new sign will be dedicated on Wednesday to welcome visitors to the “heart of Carney.”

The sign is being installed at the corner of Magledt Road and E. Joppa Road during a brief ceremony to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. December 30th.

Claude and Joni Elmore, who own the Kona Ice stand located on the corner of this intersection, donated the sign.

The Kona Ice stand opened at this intersection in April 2017.

There has been a snowball stand at this location for more than six decades.

The new sign was created and printed by Signs 2 Day in Parkville.

“Over the past years, we worked to preserve the iconic snowball stand and block unneeded development at this location,” Councilman David Marks told NottinghamMD.com. “This sign will help designate this intersection as a gateway into the heart of Carney.”
