NOTTINGHAM, MD—This year’s 19th annual “Shop with a Cop” may have been celebrated a bit differently due to COVID-19, but the warmth of the holiday season was still present.
Officers from each of the Baltimore County Police Department’s 10 precincts continued the tradition of spreading holiday cheer to children.
The children gave their shopping “wish list” to the officers to let them know who they would like to purchase gifts for and what they wanted to buy for each person. The children usually request gifts for family and friends. The Optimist Clubs of Baltimore County raised money to provide each child with a generous gift card to spend as he or she chose.
To keep everyone safe and healthy, the officers took the shopping lists and picked up the gifts at their local Walmart, unlike in previous years when the children were able to shop with them. The officers then wrapped all of the gifts and delivered them to the children’s homes.
Officers were able to brighten the holiday spirit of 100 children that participated in this year’s Shop with a Cop program in Baltimore County.
