Police investigating Overlea crash that left one dead

OVERLEA, MD—Police in Baltimore County continue to investigate an Overlea car crash that has left one man dead.

At just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, officers responded to a serious crash at the intersection of Belair Road and Virginia Avenue (21236).

Investigators have determined that a 2017 Hyundai was heading southbound on Belair Road when the driver of a 2019 Volkswagen attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Belair Road from Virginia Avenue. The Hyundai struck the Volkswagen on the driver’s side.



The driver of the Volkswagen, Eddie Louis Bibbs, 54, of the 7500-block of Marks Avenue (21236), was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to those injuries on Monday, December 7th.

The three passengers in the Hyundai were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai did not report any injuries.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate all of the factors involved in this fatal crash.
