TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County Public Schools officials have issued a statement regarding this week’s ransomware attack that has decimated the school system’s technology infrastructure.
The attack was reported on Wednesday morning as all classes, both in person and virtual, were cancelled.
The following statement was issued on Friday:
“Our technology and other central office teams have been working these past few days to address this catastrophic attack on our technology system. Unfortunately, we are limited in what we can say due to the ongoing federal, state and local investigations. However, we plan to share updates each day at 4pm. Please keep in mind, we cannot answer every question during this time of the investigation. Thank you for your understanding. Once again, please don’t use your BCPS device, BCPS accounts, or BCPS systems until further notice. We will continue communicating through our official social media accounts and the phone notification systems when we have additional guidance and information. Thanks for your understanding, grace and patience.”
The FBI is providing assistance as the investigation continues.
