Suspect, officer identified in connection with Rosedale shooting

ROSEDALE, MD—Police have identified the suspect and the officer involved in Thursday’s shooting in Rosedale.

A warrant has been issued for Michael Fink, 36, of the 7200-block of Holabird Avenue (21222), who has been been charged with one count of second-degree assault on a warrant.

He is currently in Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in stable condition.



Police recovered two knives, a silver chain, and a can of pepper spray from the crime scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities say that, at just after 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the area of Philadelphia Road at Spring Avenue (21237) in response to a report of a man holding a knife and a blade.

The man, Fink, was subsequently shot in the upper body and was taken to an area hospital conscious and alert.

Philadelphia Road was shut down as the investigation unfolded.

The officer involved is Police Officer First Class B. Brown #6211 with 2 years, 2 months of service in the Operations Bureau. He is currently on administrative leave per policy.

An internal investigation is also being conducted.
