MDOT MVA offices to close October 12 for federal holiday

BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration will close all branch offices Monday, October 12, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. MDOT MVA offices will reopen Tuesday, October 13, by appointment only.

MDOT MVA self-service VEIP kiosks, online services, and 24-hour kiosks will be available through the holiday. Customers are encouraged to check the MDOT MVA eStore – during the closure and during normal operating hours – to take advantage of many services available from the comfort and safety of home, including:



  • Duplicate/Additional Registration Cards,
  • Insurance Information and Compliance Payments,
  • Vehicle Title and Registration Applications,
  • Vehicle Registration Renewals,
  • Identification Card Renewals,
  • Title Replacements,
  • Disability Products,
  • Change of Address,
  • Driving Records,
  • License Plate Purchase/Replacement,
  • Temporary Registration,
  • Information on Administrative Flag Fees,
  • VEIP Test Date Extension,
  • Driver’s License Renewals and
  • Substitute Stickers.

When offices reopen October 13, COVID-19 safety measures including plexiglass dividers at stations, social distancing practices and limited seating will remain in place at MDOT MVA branches. Customers and employees are required to wear a face covering, maintain 6 feet of distance and participate in a brief health screening and temperature scan to enter the building.

Marylanders are reminded that Governor Larry Hogan issued an executive order authorizing an extension of all driver’s and business licenses, identification cards, permits and registrations that expire or are eligible for renewal during the COVID-19 state of emergency, which is still in effect. As a result, those documents will not expire until 30 days after the state of emergency has been lifted.

E-ZPass Maryland Customer Service Centers will be also be closed on Monday. Phone automated IVR (1-888-321-6824) and http://ezpassmd.com web access are 24/7 for account maintenance.
