St. John Properties, management company for Greenleigh at Crossroads, named No. 1 Best Places to Work by The Baltimore Business Journal

WHITE MARSH, MD—St. John Properties, Inc., the management company behind Greenleigh at Crossroads in White Marsh/Middle River, has been named #1 Best Places to Work by The Baltimore Business Journal in the publication’s annual “Best Places to Work” awards program.

The Baltimore-based commercial real estate and investment company was among ten finalists in the large business category announced earlier this year. The winners are based on employee surveys distributed to company employees, with the anonymous input evaluated by a third-party provider to determine the final rankings. St. John Properties, which owns and has developed more than 20 million square feet of space in eight states across the country, was the only commercial real estate firm named in the large business category.

The company cited its unique workplace culture as one of its strengths, in which nearly half of all current St. John Properties employees have a tenure exceeding 10 years. The company stresses the importance of overall health and well-being by providing free access to an on-site, 3,000 square foot gym and a professional physical therapist, as well as offering regular supplies of vitamins, supplements and CBD healing products. In addition, three separate kitchens at the corporate headquarters are fully-stocked with a rotating supply of fruit, snacks and beverages.

St. John Properties encourages on-going philanthropic activities by its employees with a matching gift program, and offers comprehensive compensation packages including a 401 (k) matching. Last year, the company rewarded its employees with an impromptu $10 million bonus that was divided by the 200 employees based on their individual tenure with the company. St. John Properties encourages employee cohesiveness and teamwork building by hosting regular on-site and off-site event programming throughout the year including the celebration of personal milestones such as weddings and baby showers.

“We take enormous pride in our ability to attract and retain the best talent in the real estate industry. Our investment in retaining this talent is invaluable, and is reflected in the tremendous accomplishments executed by our team on a daily basis,” explained Larry Maykrantz, President of St. John Properties. “Loyal and hard-working employees remain the backbone of our company and are the primary reason for our ability to provide unparalleled real estate solutions to our clients.”

St. John Properties, Inc., founded in 1971, was named “2018 Developer of the Year” for the Nation by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. In addition to Maryland, the company is active in Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Utah and Wisconsin.
