Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Nottingham area

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Nottingham area.

The warning will remain in effect until 5:15 p.m. on Sunday evening.

At just after 4:15 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Kingsville, or near Middle River, moving southeast at 10 mph. The storm packs 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.



Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include Middle River, Bel Air South, Perry Hall, White Marsh, Fallston, Bowleys Quarters, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Perryman, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Fork, Magnolia, Chase, Bradshaw, Abingdon, Joppa, Upper Falls and Gunpowder.

Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
