UPDATE: Arriving units found heavy smoke inside the home. The fire originated in the kitchen and had spread to the second floor.

Joppa Road was briefly shut down as a result of the blaze. The fire has now been extinguished.

CARNEY, MD—Crews are on the scene of a Wednesday night house fire in Carney.

The fire was reported at around 9:15 p.m. in the 9000-block of Simms Avenue.

There has been no word on any damage or injuries.

Motorists should use caution in the area.
