NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health on Sunday reported that statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations had dropped for the 25th straight day.
As of Sunday morning, there have been 64,306 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The statewide positivity rate has now fallen to 5.03%, down from Saturday’s 5.19%. Baltimore County’s positivity rate stands at 6.55%, an increase from Saturday’s 6.47%. Harford County’s positivity rate stands at 2.59%, a decrease from Saturday’s 2.87%.
There have been 2,937 related deaths and 608 individuals are currently hospitalized…a decrease of 36 patients since Saturday. COVID-19 hospitalizations in Maryland have now fallen for 25 consecutive days. There have been 404,725 negative test results.
Baltimore County has confirmed 7,537 COVID-19 cases and and 428 deaths while Harford County has confirmed 1,056 cases and 58 deaths (editor’s note: for the sake of accuracy, “probable” deaths are not included in the totals below). Of Baltimore County’s 428 COVID-19 deaths, 290 (around 68%) have occurred within nursing home communities.

As of Friday, June 19, Baltimore County and Harford County have each allowed additional reopenings under Stage Two of Governor Larry Hogan’s Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery as indicated in the graphic below.
“Maryland has now conducted 565,298 COVID-19 tests,” said Governor Hogan on Sunday. “The statewide positivity rate has dropped to 5.03%, down more than 81% from its April 17 peak. Current total hospitalizations have fallen to 608.”
