NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health on Tuesday reported that the statewide COVID-19 positivity rate and total hospitalizations continued their recent downward trend.
As of Tuesday morning, there have been 58,904 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The statewide positivity rate is now at 7.15%, a decrease from Monday’s 7.38%. Baltimore County’s positivity rate stands at 5.92%, a decrease from Monday’s 6.33%.
There have been 2,686 related deaths and 970 individuals are currently hospitalized…a decrease of 9 hospitalizations since Monday.
There have been 319,178 negative test results. Of Maryland’s 2,686 deaths, 1,386 (more than 50 percent) have been in congregate facility settings (nursing homes).
Baltimore County has confirmed 6,852 COVID-19 cases and and 379 deaths while Harford County has confirmed 969 cases and 52 deaths (editor’s note: for the sake of accuracy, “probable” deaths are not included in the totals below). Of Baltimore County’s 379 COVID-19 deaths, 277 (more than 70%) have occurred within nursing home communities.

Baltimore County has moved into Stage Two of Governor Larry Hogan’s Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery, as has Harford County.
“Maryland has now completed 443,478 COVID-19 tests, and the statewide positivity rate has fallen to 7.15%, down more than 73% from its peak on April 17,” said Governor Hogan on Tuesday. “Total current hospitalizations have fallen to 970.”
