Rocky Point Beach in Essex to open this weekend

ESSEX, MD—There’s no need to travel to get a taste of the beach this Memorial Day weekend.

The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks has announced that Rocky Point Beach will be opening on Saturday, May 23rd.

The beach will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and capacity will be limited.

Groups will be limited to ten and residents must practice safe social distancing.

There is no cost to enter and there will be no lifeguards so swimming will be “at your own risk,” according to beach officials.

Showers, playgrounds, and pavilions will be closed but grills will be available on a first come, first served basis.

“Grab your chair, sunscreen, and mask and come out and take a break,” reads the official announcements.

There has been no word on whether the newly-announced Social Distance Ambassadors will be deployed at the beach.

Rocky Point Beach is located at 2200 Rocky Point Road in Essex (212210).
