BALTIMORE, MD—Baltimore City Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young on Wednesday morning announced that all public events in the city would be cancelled through August 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.ould
The events that will be cancelled include the 2020 Artscape festival as well as the Fourth of July fireworks.
At Wednesday’s press conference, Mayor Young was asked if he would reevaluate if conditions improved before July. He responded that he would be open to doing so if health officials approved.
The announcement comes as Baltimore City continues to deal with the novel coronavirus pandemic.
As of Wednesday morning, the city had confirmed 4,152 COVID-19 cases and 208 deaths.
