PERRY HALL, MD—It’s official.
Tim Bonner has been elected president of the Perry Hall Recreation Council.
Bonner is the first new president of the Council in half a century, succeeding the late Jerry Soukup, who passed away in February at 92 years of age.
Since its founding in 1955, Jerry Soukup was a member of the Perry Hall Recreation Council, serving first as vice president, then as the president since 1988.
For decades, he and his wife, Pat, raised money from concession stand sales and events for a gymnasium to house the organization’s sports leagues. Jerry & Pat Soukup raised $1.5 million to cover half the cost of the project.
That gym, Soukup Arena, opened in 2015 and was named in their honor.
Tim Bonner (CEO), a graduate of Archbishop Curley High School, his wife, Jane, and his sister, Pat Bonner-McElroy (president), own and operate Tim’s Automotive and Towing.
“I look forward to working with Tim and other recreation council members to improve our parks and programs,” said Councilman David Marks on Monday.
