Police investigating several overnight thefts from vehicles in Essex

ESSEX, MD—Police are investigating several overnight thefts from autos in the Essex area.

Sometime between 4:15 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, eight parked cars in the unit block of Urbanwood Court (21221), the 800-block of Dorsey Avenue (21221), and the 400-block of Virginia Avenue (21221) were broken into.



The investigation determined that several suspects walked through the neighborhoods targeting unlocked vehicles parked in residential driveways and on the street.

Police are reminding residents to always lock their car doors and remove any visible and/or valuable items. Thefts from autos are crimes of opportunity that can be prevented.

Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the thefts.
