BALTIMORE, MD—Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Maryland State Board of Education announced on Tuesday evening that officials have asked Dr. Karen Salmon to accept a new contract.
The new agreement will continue her service through June 30, 2021.
“We are grateful that Dr. Salmon has agreed to continue serving Maryland’s students during this national crisis,” MSDE officials said in a statement.
Additionally, with the unprecedented business conditions nationwide, MSDE is ending the search for a new Superintendent.
A decision for a date to renew the search will be made as the board receives additional information regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
