2020 Kingsville Independence Day Parade cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic

KINGSVILLE, MD—Officials announced on Tuesday night that the 2020 Kingsville Independence Day Parade would be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Based on conversations with some members of the committee, The Greater Kingsville Civic Association, Inc. and the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Department, the decision was made to cancel the 2020 Kingsville 4th of July Parade,” officials said in a statement.

“In the nearly 40 years of the modern incarnation of the parade, not even a little rain kept ‘the little parade that could’ from celebrating our nation’s birthday as planned,” the statement continued. “But this world-wide virus cannot be underestimated and/or predicted, and necessary planning of the parade falls well within the period of quarantine and social distancing limiting our ability to effectively plan and fund the parade. For the safety of all, this decision was reluctantly reached.”

The parade will resume in 2021.
