CARNEY, MD—A resident at a Carney retirement community has tested positive for coronavirus.
Officials at Oak Crest Village Retirement Community confirmed on Monday morning that a resident there had tested positive for COVID-19.
“At this time, we have no other reported cases among residents or employees but are closely monitoring those who live and work at our community so we can take immediate action if needed,” Oak Crest officials said in a statement. “The impacted resident is receiving appropriate care and treatment. Those who live and work on campus have been informed of this situation, and we are proceeding with the utmost caution.”
Anyone who had been in contact with the resident in question has been asked to remain in their home for a 14-day period and to self-monitor for symptoms.
“Oak Crest is acting with an abundance of caution and taking every measure necessary, consistent with CDC and local health department guidelines, in response to this public health concern,” the statement continued.
The community is closed to non-essential visitors.
