Carjacking reported in Overlea, Kingsville phone shop burglarized

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Authorities are investigating several local crimes that were reported over the past week.

At around 6 a.m. on Friday, March 13, an individual broke into South Marlyn Liquors, located in the 700-block of S. Marlyn Avenue in Essex (21221) and stole liquor and cigarettes. The suspect was apprehended and arrested at the location and all items were recovered.

At 10:15 p.m. on Friday, while riding his bike in the area of E. Joppa Road at Spring Road in Carney (21234), an individual was approached by two juveniles who attempted to steal his bike. They were unable to take the bicycle but then they assaulted the victim, causing a minor injury.



At 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, five individuals approached a woman while she was unpacking her vehicle on Bykes Court in Overlea (21206). The suspects then stole the victim’s belongings along with her vehicle.

At 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, two individuals used a key to enter the rear of the Swift Mobile store located in the 11700-block of Belair Road in Kingsville (21087).  The suspects stole a safe and electronics before fleeing the scene.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16, two individuals shattered the front glass door at the BP located in the 700-block of Eastern Avenue in Essex (21221) and stole cigarettes and a cash register.
