ESSEX, MD—This week, a Baltimore County man became the latest in a streak of winners playing the $10 Lucky Numbers game, which is a member of the Maryland Lottery’s new FAST PLAY category. The 57-year-old won a $50,000 prize instantly when he purchased the game on a quick visit to his local Royal Farms.
The lucky winner said he has played the Lucky Numbers game frequently since FAST PLAY went on sale Feb. 10. The game has posted numerous progressive prize wins in the past four weeks including two for $117,626 and $207,611. The state government employee told Maryland Lottery officials that when luck found him, he was trying to win the game’s next progressive prize.
He made his financially rewarding visit to the Royal Farms located at 2410 E. Joppa Road in Carney. After purchasing the game, the loyal player scanned the ticket using the ticket checker on the Maryland Lottery’s mobile app and discovered his $50,000 prize.
The Essex resident quickly tucked the ticket away, exited the store and worked a full day at his office. He explained his calm to Lottery officials the following day after claiming his prize.
“I’m calm. That’s just me. If I won $100 million, I’d still go to work the next day,” said the winner.
The player told officials he plans to save his funds, adding that his Lucky Numbers winnings would also help with the cost of an upcoming summer trip.
