JOPPA, MD—A firefighter suffered a heart attack while battling a house fire in Joppa over the weekend.
Tyler Colvin says his father, a firefighter with the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, went into cardiac arrest after responding to a house fire in the 700-block of Ferguson Road on Saturday afternoon.
After being transported to UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, the firefighter went into cardiac arrest for 90 seconds.
He was quickly revived and received three stents.
“My father is constantly helping others throughout the community and now he needs this help to focus on himself and making a full recovery,” Tyler Colvin wrote on a GoFundMe page he created to help his father. “All funds will go to help with bills and to supplement his income since he will be out of work for a while.”
