Arctic blast to usher in brief cold snap

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Things are about to get chilly in the Baltimore area, at least for a bit.

An Arctic cold front is already progressing through the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, and will continue to drop south and east bringing cold and drier conditions in its wake, according to the National Weather Service.



Temperatures will drop sharply on Thursday evening with lows in the upper 20s.  On Friday, the forecast high will be just above freezing at 33 degrees.  On Friday night, temperatures will bottom out at around 17 degrees.  On Saturday, the forecast high will once again be 33 degrees with lows Saturday night in the mid-20s.

By Sunday, the Baltimore area will be back above normal with highs in the upper 40s.
