PARKVILLE, MD—Watching a man’s non-winning scratch-off experience inspired two police officers to test their own Maryland Lottery luck with instant tickets from the Gold Rush X100 game. They aced the test!
One of their three Gold Rush X100 scratch-offs sent the men rushing to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim a $50,000 prize.
The lucky law enforcement officers, ages 34 and 37, found their big win at the 7-Eleven located at 9410 Harford Road in Parkville. They watched a player buy and play several Gold Rush X100 instant tickets with little to no success before deciding they might have better luck. The duo bought three instant tickets.
They struck out with the first scratch-off, struck gold with the second instant ticket by finding a $50,000 prize and nabbed a $100 prize on the third scratch-off.
As soon as they realized they won $50,000, the two men exchanged a high-five in celebration. The Bel Air and Forest Hill residents happily shared news of the exciting win with their families.
Both men have worked as county police officers for over 10 years.
When asked of their plans for the prize, the winners both said their share of the windfall would go to home improvement projects.
