Potential for icy roads, fog prompts special statement from NWS

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The precipitation may have ended, but motorists aren’t out of the woods just yet.

The National Weather Service issued a special statement on Tuesday evening indicating that icy roads were possible overnight as temperatures drop below freezing for most areas near Interstate 95.

Any untreated surfaces may become icy.

Also, areas of fog are possible overnight and visibility may be reduced to around one- quarter mile at times.

The combination of the fog and slippery spots will make travel difficult on untreated surfaces.

Motorists should use extra caution when driving and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility along with slippery spots, even if the
surface appears to be wet.
