Pedestrians struck, critically injured in Essex

UPDATE 3: Police have identified the two children who were killed in this crash.

UPDATE 2: Police say two of the three children who were struck have died.

UPDATE: The Baltimore County Fire Department now reports that four pedestrians were struck, three of whom were children.

The three children and one adult were critically injured and are being taken to local medical facilities.



Eastern Avenue has been shut down in both directions at Orville Road.  Motorists should use an alternate route.

ESSEX, MD—Emergency crews are responding to the scene of a Monday afternoon crash involving pedestrians in Essex.

At just before 4:30 p.m., three pedestrians were struck in the area of Eastern Avenue and Orville Road (21221).

Two victims are reportedly in trauma arrest and the other victim has been critically injured.

A Medevac chopper is responding to the scene.

There has been no word on whether the motorist remained at the scene.

Motorists should use caution in the area.
