Nottingham convenience store sells winning $20K Md. Lottery scratch-off

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Andrew Ramey from Colorado travels all around the country for work. While traveling, he enjoys trying scratch-offs from each state.

The Maryland Lottery has handed him his biggest win yet thanks to the 2020 Cash game, which produced a $20,200 top-prize win.

“When I get to each state, I check out the lottery’s website to see which games have the best odds,” the 39-year-old told officials. “I really liked this 2020 Cash game since it started with 212 top prizes.”

Just before Christmas, Andrew stopped by the 7-Eleven located at 8601 Honeygo Boulevard in Nottingham and purchased three 2020 Cash scratch-offs.

When he got in his car, he started scratching the instant tickets. The first game he scratched was the big winner.

“I decided after that to wait to scratch the other two tickets until I got home,” he said. Asked if he kept the ticket somewhere special between then and today when he claimed the prize, Andrew said he signed the back of the scratch-off and put it in a safe.

The excited winner, who has worked in Maryland for over a year, plans to put his prize into his savings account.

Andrew isn’t the only one walking away a winner. The 7-Eleven store receives a bonus of $202, equal to 1 percent of the prize, for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $10,000 or more.

The 2020 Cash scratch-off launched in November and still has 188 unclaimed top prizes of $20,200 and more than $48 million in total cash prizes.
