New traffic light to be activated in Perry Hall

PERRY HALL, MD—After more than one year of planning and discussion, a new traffic signal will soon go live in Perry Hall.

On Monday, December 9, the Maryland State Highway Administration Elwood activate a new traffic light at the intersection of Belair Road and Klausmier Road.

The intersection has been called one of the most dangerous in Perry Hall.

The new light will give Klausmier Road motorists a left turn signal onto Route One.

When the Klausmier Farm development was announced, Councilman David Marks formed a task force that recommended three projects to improve mobility. All projects have now advanced.

In addition to the light, speed bumps were installed on Klausmier Road with the help of a neighborhood petition drive, and the parking lot will be expanded at Gunpowder Elementary School this summer.

After this light, motorists driving south won’t encounter another signal for another mile, at India Avenue.
