ROSEDALE, MD—A Baltimore native was all smiles when she arrived at Maryland Lottery headquarters, where she posed for selfies with a check showing her massive, top-prize win on a $500,000 Crossword scratch-off.
The lucky city resident purchased her $20 instant ticket a week ago at Quality BP in Rosedale.
One of her three puzzles yielded 10 winning words to give her the game’s first $500,000 top prize. She arrived at headquarters with one of her good friends in tow to claim her win.
“I wanted to make sure the amount was correct,” said the 46-year-old winner. “I still can’t believe it!”
This is the Maryland Lottery’s first $20 extended-play game. The $500,000 Crossword scratch-off includes bonus areas and multipliers to boost players’ fun as well as higher top prizes and improved odds of winning.
Growing in popularity, the scratch-off arrived in stores on September 23 and is climbing the Maryland Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-offs chart. The game now ranks fifth on the list.
There are seven more unclaimed top prizes in the game, which has eight $50,000 prizes awaiting discovery along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000.
Also a big winner is Quality BP. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the $500,000 Crossword game, Quality BP earns a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
The busy store is located at 7500 Pulaski Highway in Rosedale.
