Loch Raven Technical Academy student to compete in annual Celebration of Music [VIDEO]

TOWSON, MD—Avery Markakis, a Grade 7 student at Loch Raven Technical Academy, is seeking online votes to move forward in the Celebration of Music contest.

The national youth talent search, hosted by 18-year-old Ethan Bortnick, begins with a regional round.

The competition is open to bands, musicians, singers, and dancers from ages 4 to 25. T

The Baltimore competition features over 20 finalists. From that pool, two winners will be selected to advance to Los Angeles for the national competition.

One Baltimore winner will be selected by the producers, and the other will be selected by the largest number of viewer votes. The regional winners will be announced during a Bortnick concert on Thursday, October 24, at 7 p.m. at the Gordon Center for the Performing Arts in Owings Mills.

Tickets for the concert are still available online (use the code CELEBRATE for a $10 discount on the ticket price).

The voting form can be found online beneath her biography. According to the bio, Markakis is enrolled in the performing arts magnet program at Loch Raven Technical Academy and is a former student of the Baltimore School of Rock.

She sings, dances, and acts and has performed throughout the community. Her dream, according to the bio, is to become “a professional singer, teacher, and softball coach with a home full of rescue animals.”
