Police provide update on fatal Edgewood crash, school buses delayed

EDGEWOOD, MD—Police have provided an update on a fatal, Thursday afternoon crash in Edgewood that killed one person.

The deceased was reportedly the driver of a vehicle that left the roadway and overturned ejecting two people.  The vehicle then caught on fire.



The name of the deceased is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

At just after 11:45 a.m., police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver had been traveling southbound on Route 24, Emmorton Road, near State Highway Route 755, Edgewood Road, when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Maryland State Police responded to the crash, and the Maryland State Highway Administration assisted with road closures during the investigation into the crash.

The investigation continues into the exact cause of the crash.

Harford County Public Schools advises that, due to the road closure on Route 24, buses are being re-routed and may be delayed on Thursday afternoon.
