WHITE MARSH, MD—A sculpture commemorating the late County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will be dedicated in White Marsh this week.
Plans for the sculpture were first announced in June of last year.
The brushed metal sculpture with intertwined wings will be located at Greenleigh at Crossroads and is set to be dedicated on Wednesday to Kamenetz, who led the charge to the wooded area off of Interstate 95 into a mixed-use community.
Kamenetz died in office in May 2018 at 60 years of age.
“When (Kamenetz) first told me what he wanted here, I sat there and thought, ‘you want Maple Lawn in Middle River? You must be out of your mind,” said Edward St. John, chairman of St. John Properties, last year. “I have come to praise Kevin Kamenetz. This truly is a celebration of Kevin’s vision into reality.”
Artist William Hemsley of Maryland’s Eastern Shore created the sculpture.
