Teens in Caprio case sentenced to spend 30 years in prison

NOTTINGHAM, MD – A Baltimore County Circuit Court judge on Monday sentenced two of the three remaining teens involved in the May 2018 murder of Officer Amy Caprio.

Derrick Matthews, 17, and Eugene Genius, 18, have been sentenced to life in prison with all but 30 years suspended.

Back in August, 17-year-old Dawnta Harris was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

He was the driver of vehicle that struck Officer Caprio as she was investigating a reported burglary in the area of Linwen Way in Perry Hall on May 21, 2018.

Darrell Ward, 17, was also scheduled to be sentenced on Monday but his sentencing was postponed to a later date.
