UPDATE: Officials with Baltimore County Public Schools say to expect “major” transportation delays this afternoon.
UPDATE 3: Police say they attempted to stop a speeding truck on I-83. The rental truck attempted to flee, but ran out of gas on I-695. The condition of the truck concerned the officer, who then called for K-9 units and a hazardous devices team. Nothing was found in the truck and the driver has been arrested.
UPDATE 2: As of 2 p.m., most travel lanes have been reopened and traffic is being released.

NOTTINGHAM, MD – Both loops of the Baltimore Beltway have been shut down in the area of Providence Road.
At just before 1:30 p.m., the State Highway Administration advised that al three lanes of the inner and outer loops of I-695 had been shut down for “police activity” between Providence Road and Dulaney Valley Road.
A police spokesperson told NottinghamMD.com that the closure was due to a police chase that ended on the beltway.
Police have detained a suspicious rental truck at the location.
There has been no update as to when the affected lanes will reopen.
