Pedestrian killed in Essex crash

ESSEX, MD – A crash in Essex killed a pedestrian on Friday evening.

At about 8 p.m., police responded to the area of Eastern Boulevard and Volz Avenue after the pedestrian stepped off of the median into eastbound traffic and was struck by a Kia Rio.



The pedestrian, identified as Robert Thomas Baker, 55, with no fixed address, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver remained at the scene.
