Md. Public Service Commission seeks public input on BGE rate increase request

BALTIMORE, MD–The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold three public comment hearings on the request by Baltimore Gas and Electric Company to increase its electric distribution rates by $81.8 million and its gas service rates by $68.1 million, for a total of $149.9 million.

BGE, a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, serves 1.9 million electric and gas customers in central Maryland. According to BGE’s application, the average combined electric and gas residential customer would see a total monthly bill increase of $8.60, or about 5.9%.



BGE proposes to increase the fixed monthly customer charge from $7.90 to $10 for residential electric customers and from $14to $16 for residential gas customers. Members of the public who wish to comment on the matter are welcome to attend one or all of the hearings, scheduled as follows:
