House fire reported in Joppa

UPDATE: The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Damage is estimated at around $30,000.  The occupants were not home at the time of the blaze.

The fire was contained to the exterior enclosed porch with smoke and soot damage throughout the remainder of the home.

JOPPA, MD – Crews are on the scene of a Saturday afternoon house fire in Joppa.

The fire was reported at just before 1 p.m. in the 2700-block of Old Joppa Road (21085).

Units arrived to find smoke showing from the dwelling.

There has been no word on any injuries.

Motorists should use caution in the area.
