BCPS recognized for 15th year of procurement excellence

TOWSON, MD — For the 15th consecutive year, Baltimore County Public Schools has been awarded the prestigious Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) award from the National Procurement Institute, Inc.

The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that obtain a high application score based on standardized criteria. For 2019, there were 202 successful applicants. The AEP recognizes innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership in public procurement, and encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement.



“Year after year, the talented and hardworking staff in the Office of Purchasing demonstrate excellence in their management of our precious public resources,” said BCPS Chief Administrative and Operations Officer Kevin D. Smith. “We greatly appreciate Purchasing Manager Melanie Webster and her team for their outstanding work and once again bringing honor to BCPS.

In addition to the National Procurement Institute, Inc., the AEP is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials, Institute for Supply Management, Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials, NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, National Association of Educational Procurement, Texas Public Purchasing Association, and the Canadian Public Procurement Council / Conseil canadien des marchés publics.

The AEP is supported by the Airport Purchasing Group, the National Association of State Procurement Officials, the National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance, and the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council.
